  Mr.Li Quanzhi who has just returned to China from your university informed that you are considering the possibility of offering a Chinese language course to your students in the next academic year and may have an opening for a teacher of the Chinese language. I am very much interested in such a position.

  I have been teaching Chinese literature and composition at college level since 1980. In the past three years, I have worked in summer programs, teaching the Chinese language and culture to students from English-speaking courtries. As a result, I got to know well the common problems of these students and how to adapt teaching to achieve the best results.

  With years of intensive English training, I have no difficulty conducting classes in English and feel queit comfortable working with American students.

  寫英文求職信的九個要點

  現(xiàn)在工作環(huán)境競爭激烈,有些好的工作崗位都有許多人爭相投簡歷。然而,對方公司的HR可不一定會逐個逐個研究求職者的簡歷。所以優(yōu)秀簡歷難免會被淹沒在大海之中。

  現(xiàn)在問題來了,拿什么拯救你,我的簡歷?

  所有的簡歷乍看起來外表都長得一樣,唯一能讓HR對它們另眼相看的,卻是另一樣東西——隨著簡歷一起投遞的求職信,俗稱cover letter.

  千萬別小看求職信,你對一個崗位的誠意有幾分,全在這信上了。因為簡歷是死的,你不能對其進行任何"二次創(chuàng)作",但你卻可以通過求職信來說簡歷沒有說的東西。然而,許多人都習慣于復制求職信,比如在某招聘網站上寫完一封求職信后,在之后所有的簡歷投遞中都用這封信,連對對方的稱呼都不變。這樣對方公司能感受到誠意嗎?

  求職信,最起碼要根據(jù)不同的公司進行修改。而且,對于外企公司來說,最好也準備一封英文的求職信。不過這英文信該怎么寫?不用困惑,這東西不難寫。今天華生為你來分享英文求職信寫作必知的9個要點,看看你需要怎樣做吧?

  1. Length: A letter of application should be no more than one page long.

  或許你會覺得越全面地向HR展示自己越好,寫起求職信就像寫自傳一樣,這其實是最令人頭疼的。誰會想在忙碌的時候靜下心來閱讀一份很長很長很長的信?HR多半會直接選擇把這封信跳過。

  2. Format: A letter of application should be single-spaced with a space between each paragraph. Use about 1" margins and align your text to the left, which is the standard alignment for most documents.

  就好像上面說的一樣,密密麻麻的字讓人看了就煩心,所以求職信一定要最求干凈、簡潔,讓人一目了然,順暢閱讀。

  3. Font: Use a traditional font such as Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri. The font size should be between 10 and 12 points.

  求職信不需要花哨,使用三種英文標準字體均可,就好像中文一般都會用宋體或微軟雅黑一樣,看著也會比較舒服。也不要把字體弄太大,這樣看起來不會醒目多少,卻會難看許多。

  4. Header: A letter of application should begin with both you and the employer's contact information (name, address, phone number, email) followed by the date. If this is an email rather than an actual letter, include your contact information at the end of the letter, after your signature.

  寫英文信件時最需要注意的是中英文信件的格式不同。另外,稱呼老外時需要使用"稱謂+姓氏"的格式,比如"Dear Mr./Ms. Last Name.",Mr和Ms后面可別寫名字了。如果你不知道對方叫什么,可以用"Dear Hiring Manager."的說法來代替。

  5. Introduction: Begin by stating what job you are applying for. Explain where you heard about the job, particularly if you heard about it from a contact associated with the company. Briefly mention how your skills and experience match the company and/or position; this will give the employer a preview of the rest of your letter.

  自我介紹是正文開頭必不可少的,也是禮貌的一種體現(xiàn)。不過就像華生提醒過的那樣,千萬不要長篇累牘地寫"自傳",要抓住自己學習和職業(yè)生涯中的精彩亮點簡明扼要地寫。

  6. Body: In a paragraph or two, explain why you are interested in the job and why you make an excellent candidate for the position. Mention specific qualifications listed in the job posting, and explain how you meet those qualifications. Do not simply restate your resume, but provide specific examples that demonstrate your abilities. You can either write about these specific examples in complete sentences or in a bulleted format.

  做過自我介紹后就有理由向HR證明為何你是"最適合"該崗位的人。將對方的要求羅列出來,再將你的亮點與之對應。這是一封求職信中最為重要的部分,能不能打動HR就看你的工作能力和語言表達能力了。

  7. Closing: Restate how your skills make you a strong fit for the company and/or position. State that you would like to interview and/or discuss employment opportunities. Explain what you will do to follow up, and when you will do it. Thank the employer for his/her consideration.

  最后需要把前面的話都簡單概括一下,也別忘記向HR表示謝意,感謝他百忙之中看完了你的求職信(其實從某方面說這是應該的……),因為大部分求職信在HR看到一半的時候就丟了。

  8. Signature: End with your signature, handwritten, followed by your typed name. If this is an email, simply include your typed name, followed by your contact information.

  千萬記得留下自己的聯(lián)系方式。雖然HR可以通過其他方法查到這些信息,但是如果HR在一瞬間對你"動了心",又馬上有辦法聯(lián)系你的話,一切就如同趁熱打鐵一樣恰到好處。從某種程度說,對待HR就像是對待"顧客"一樣,需要設想周到,給對方提供最好的"服務體驗".

  9. Proof and Edit Your Letter: Remember to proof and edit your letter before sending it. It may sound silly, but also be sure to include the correct employer and company names - when you write many letters of application at once, it is easy to make a mistake.

  千萬別一寫完就立刻覺得大功告成然后發(fā)出去了。打個比方,你應聘某個廣告公司的文案,卻在求職信里寫出各種病句錯字,對方看到的話肯定會質疑你的專業(yè)水平。就算你不是文字工作者,在求職信的表述和用詞方面再精雕細琢一下是不會錯的。要知道,對很多企業(yè)來說你的求職信只有一次被閱讀的機會。

  其實華生覺得,求職信一個最大的問題就是篇幅?赡苡行┡笥巡簧瞄L總結和精煉,所以不把話說多說全了,很難體現(xiàn)出自己要表現(xiàn)的亮點。但是我之前也說了,長篇累牘的求職信很可能讓HR掃一眼就略過了。另外還有句話,叫"言多必失",或許你說多了,反而有東西沒說好;又或許你說多了,別人感覺你羅嗦。

  對了,還需要提醒一下,英語口語的某些說法并不適合用到正式的書面語之中,縮寫也需要慎用。所以平時你在鍛煉口語的同時,也別把書面語都落下了。
