My name is Dongqi Yang from china, I am horror to be here today and I amvery happy to receive this award.
As you can imagine, as international students in Australia, the biggestchallenge is English,I remembered that when I come here first time, there is aparty in the house of my home stay. During the time, they played jokes and theylaughed all the time, do you know how embarrassed that is, everyone laughedexcept you. So I pretend to understand the joke in another party, I saw everyonelaugh and I laugh too in 5 seconds later. My home stay was surprised about thatand asked me “do you understand?”，and I answered “no”，“So why do you laugh?””because I do not want to be embarrassed”!
But as I receive this award today, I want to thank to them, because theyencourage me to be involved with the committee rather than staying in at home,play computer and speak Chinese.
When I came to Wantirna College first time, I met liz collar who isinternational student coordinator. She is very kind to me, and she encourage mejoin SRC, I went to SRC meetings regularly all the time, but I didn’t even knowwhat SRC was! That is the reason why I told her, I don’t want to go to SRCanymore. But she said “why not? You should go and you have to go!”I asked” why?”she said:” because I said so!”
But as ii receive this award today, I want to thank her. She helps me alot.
Truth be told, I am not the best student in Wantirna College, but Iappreciate this award and I will try my best in future.
I think I got 10 seconds left, I want to thank to Les and Vera who is mylovely home stay, thanks to Liz collar who is international student coordinator,I strongly want to thank to my mother, because she support me and gave me theopportunity to come to Australia. the young is just like blooming flowers，they are so beautiful whenblooming，they make people feel happy，but with time passing by，after they withers，moet people think they are so it is the same with young，we are enthusiasticwhen we are young，then we may lose our passion when getting older and we musttreasure it，don't let the limitted time pass by，leaving nothing ofsignificance。

為營造我院英語學習氣氛，豐富校園文化。10月12日晚，我院學生會學習部主辦的英語命題演講比賽在三教a座201教室舉辦，23位來自我院20xx級與20xx級的同學參加此次比賽。

I’m very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! my topic isOpportunities and Challenges。
First，I would like to know，what does your destiny offer you? Happiness，wisdom，a strong body or something else。 If I had asked this question topresident Nixon，he would probably had said，”O(jiān)ur destiny offers not the cup ofdespair，but the chalice of opportunity�！�
Needless to say，one of the biggest opportunities given to China is the20xx Olympic Games。 Till now，we have used two sevenths of the preparation time。How much changes have you seen? New roads，new subway lines，public-exercisingequipments with beautiful colors，large blocks of grass fields，and also lots ofmodern gyms which are under construction。
Other than those，there are even more good effects brought to us by theOlympic Games that cannot be seen directly。 For example，more and more peoplewill get to know China。 I’m sure the mysterious Chinese culture will attractthem strongly。 And the games will also do good to the economy and environment，for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness ofenvironmental protection is being strengthened。 What is more，Olympic Games givea unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of Chinese youthwith the Olympic values and the Olympic spirit。 Now that we have seen so manyadvances，could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?
I’ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China。 But I think everyoneshould use some time to think of this question，”Does the Olympic Games have anyspecial meaning to you?”
For us，I mean the Chinese youth，20xx Olympic Games is a tremendous gift。Because what we are waiting for is to do something significant as repaying thelove given to us 。The society is just like a ship，and in our dreams the captainis waving his hand and saying ”Hey!
